Funded by the National Science Foundation, STEM2 promotes the advancement of underrepresented students in STEM fields through mentorship, research, leadership development, and community building.
According to the Pew Research Center, employment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics occupations has grown 79% since 1990, outpacing overall U.S. job growth. Here at Saint Joseph’s, we have a rich history of educating and training students interested in pursuing STEM professions. Recent alumni have attended prestigious graduate programs across the country and landed full-time employment with leading STEM organizations.
AboutBeginning with the 2019–2020 academic year, Saint Joseph’s University has been awarded $1 million dollars to provide scholarship support that promotes career training in the STEM fields. Through this scholarship program, the University will award a limited number of $10,000 scholarships to students with a declared interest in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics. In addition, the University will meet the full demonstrated need of each scholarship recipient.
Students awarded a STEM2 scholarship will also engage in:
Intensive faculty mentoring and peer mentoring by trained upperclassmen;
Undergraduate research and internship opportunities;
Leadership and community service programs;
Community building activities; and
Career development with industry partners.
The STEM2 program is designed for students from underrepresented groups, including low income and first-generation college students, who meet the following criteria:
Admitted to Saint Joseph’s University for the Fall 2021 semester as a biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics major;
