Red Hat Open Source Assurance

Open Source Assurance is a Red Hat program designed to protect Red Hat customers developing and deploying Red Hat solutions. The program includes assurances for customers purchasing Red Hat-branded software subscriptions, such as Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® and Red Hat OpenShift® Container Platform, and subscriptions with Red-Hat-branded AI models, such as those included with RHEL AI. In short, if your use is supported by a subscription, it is covered by the Open Source Assurance program.

All customers with active, paid Red Hat product subscriptions are eligible for the Open Source Assurance program during the term of the subscription. This includes customers who have purchased subscriptions in direct agreements with Red Hat or through Red Hat channel partners.

The Open Source Assurance program provides comfort to our customers that claims against Red Hat products are an issue for Red Hat to resolve, rather than the customer.

In the event a third party brings a claim for infringement, Red Hat will defend the customer against the claim and pay the amount of a judgment or settlement subject to the stated limitations. Red Hat may also replace or modify the software or AI model in question, where possible.

Red Hat AI model assurance applies to Red Hat-branded AI models that are included in our products such as RHEL AI and identified in the product terms, including the output of such models.

Is the Open Source Assurance program applicable to all versions of Red Hat-branded software and AI models?

The Open Source Assurance program covers all current and future versions of Red Hat-branded software or AI models included with our products such as RHEL AI, for which you have an active, paid subscription that you are using as described in the product terms. You do need to be using the current version to receive coverage.

The Open Source Assurance program applies for the duration of an active, paid Red Hat product subscription.

The specific terms and obligations of the Open Source Assurance program are contained in the Open Source Assurance Agreement that is available to Red Hat customers via the Red Hat Customer Portal or other authorized Red Hat portal.

A customer can sign up for the Open Source Assurance program by logging in to their Red Hat Customer Portal account with an active product subscription, and accepting the terms of the optional Open Source Assurance Agreement.
