Built at Shreveport LA., as a sternwheel steamer
Launched, 14 April 1863
Commissioned, 12 September 1863, CSS Missouri, LT. J. H. Carter, CSN, in command
For most of the war Missouri was trapped in the Shreveport, LA. area by low water on the Red River
Missouri never saw action but engaged in transport and mining details between Alexandria and Shreveport, LA., above the Red River obstructions
At the end of hostilities Missouri surrendered to U.S naval forces on the Red River, 3 June 1865
Taken into the U.S. Navy at Mound City, IL., but never commissioned
Dismantled and laid up at Mound City.
Hull sold at public auction at Mound City, IL., 29 November 1865, to John Riley for $2,100 Specifications:
