Assigned to the blockade of Yorktown and patrol of the York River in April 1862
Reassigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron in November for service off Wilmington, N.C.
Between November 1862 and August 1863 Chocura captured two prizes, and assisted USS Maratanza in taking another
Reassigned to the West Gulf Blockading Squadron in November 1863
Patrolling in the Gulf of Mexico between November 1863 and January 1865, Chocura took six prizes and assisted in capturing two others
After the war Chocura was assigned to the newly activated Gulf Squadron in October 1866
Decommissioned, 7 June 1867, at New York
Sold 13 July 1867
