The Nassau Literary Review is the second oldest undergraduate literary and arts magazine in the nation and the oldest student publication at Princeton University.
Since 1842, NassLit has been an integral part of the Princeton artistic tradition, providing a forum for student writers, poets, and artists. It was in our pages that many of Princeton’s most celebrated alumni — including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Galway Kinnell, and Jonathan Safran Foer, among others — first published their work, and we continue to showcase evocative literary and artistic talents on campus today.
NassLit seeks to inspire and develop the literary and artistic community in Princeton and beyond, both by publishing high-quality fiction, poetry, essays, and art, as well as by hosting events and coordinating activities with the other arts groups on campus. In recent years, some of NassLit’s initiatives have included:
Hosting the annual Intercollegiate Literary Conference, the first event of its kind, with events featuring both prominent literary figures (such as Susan Choi, Rick Moody, Edmund White, and Joyce Carol Oates), representatives from the publishing and magazine industries, and undergraduate literary magazine editors from across the East Coast.
Throwing a twice-annual Launch Party and Open Mic Night at Small World Coffee in Princeton.
Organizing campus lunches and dinners for the discussion of literature, art, and culture.
Organizing “Art & Ekphrasis,” a fully funded trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for student writers to create poems which are in a dialogue with visual art.
Organizing a Writing & Arts Picnic at Grounds for Sculpture, a whimsical and inspiring outdoor sculpture garden.
Holding a Children’s Book Competition in conduction with the Stella Art Club.
