A fascinating, globe-trotting epic that still manages to feel very intimate.
Despite the lack of A-list Hollywood star power, the mysterious show boasts strong characters and compelling actors bringing them to life. And though the story sometimes meanders about like a child at play in a schoolyard, the premise holds enough intrigue to call viewers back to experience more.
Thank you all, who have taken part in making this project. It made me laugh and cry so many times. I will not talk about science accuracy but human life. I am ready to tell, no, scream about it to the whole world. The series every person must watch to understand the purity of life, aims, and judgements. There are to words in any language to describe my admiration. Thank you to the moon and back!
WATCH IT!!!! it's amazing if you're an open-minded person.... if your someone who holds conservative values though this show definitely isn't for you, but it's your loss for this show is amazing
Overall, the first season of Sense8 doesn't quite work the way it should. But it's hard not to step back and say, "Goddamn--the balls on that show." It's the pole-vaulter who knicks the bar with her ankle on the descent
Beautifully shot and sublimely silly, Sense8 is slower than “The Matrix” and not nearly as thrilling.
It's aiming for something big, and while these three episodes give me no idea if they can ultimately hit the mark, they're also more interesting than they have any right to be considering how incoherent so much of it is.
A globe-spanning series that offers in ambition, action and visual panache what it lacks in coherence, fleshed-out characters and plausible dialogue.
There are no casual touches in Sense8, and the Wachowskis' fashionable and unsurprising "fight the power" message meshes tediously with typical action beats that are further glossed over with said narrative parallels.
This is the best show on tv bar none. Another reviewer, Ejarn, complains that there is no character development. Apparently he/she can't get past what he/she believes is moralizing about gender and sexuality. I'm not sure what show he is watching but it certainly is not Sense8. Each of the 8 main characters has a fully developed story line that also connects to the bigger picture. It's surprising that he/she can write coherent senetences but not be able to follow this superb storyline. I suggest he/she stick to Grey's Anatomy or NCIS.
I started fast forwarding after the 2nd episode. It's not a bad show, but it's not really meant for me. The sci-fi aspect of Sense8 is what made me watch it. However despite it starting the series very much so with said premise, it mostly turns into a 'soap opera' afterwards making the actors' personal lives the main story. With the 'shocking' sex scenes (are sex scenes really shocking any more these days?) to go along with it. Mainly ignoring the most interesting thing about the series. Granted, I stopped watching after a couple of episodes. Maybe it delves moreso in the actual storyline later on. I just didn't want to go through so many imo unintersting hours, to be able to see a few actual interesting minutes. Because that's what happened when I watched the first few episodes of Sense8.
This is not a great show, to say so is an objective lie. I was entertained however. I just kept watching and suddenly, it was like "I get it" without really getting it. I'm not a prude whatsoever, I'm not homophobic whatsoever, but I don't really agree with mashing or taping sexuality onto a story or movie makes it "edgy." This could have been a good story with 100% of the sex and sexuality parts of it removed. In most places across the globe since sex is a private thing and for the most part devoid of thought and conversation, it will never serve to advance a fiction story. Kissing and fading to black is fine. Heck, even lying in bed naked talking is fine. If you're a believe in nothing belongs in a story that doesn't advance a character or plot, sex scenes never serve to do this and rarely do, even when they're enjoyable. I can always watch porn for those things. Heck, why don't Hollywood movie directors try their hand at porn every once in a while if they want to make sex beautiful? Not sure if another season needs to exist as it is. I'd pull it a bit more down to Earth and make the plot and story more concrete and maybe it can work. I'm not sure if vagueness and mystery can carry a show on throughout the years.
Would love to have rated it a 10, but since they pulled a Fox Firefly bonehead move and cancelled it, I have to say no. At the true end of season 2, Episode 11, there are a ton subplots going on. It ends in a big cliffhanger, and then they cancelled the show. They did a good job throwing us a bone with a 2 1/2 hour "wrapup" episode (the newly released episode 12), but it's still rushed and only half satisfying. They basically had to cut all the subplots and just shoot for finishing up and making us feel nice. It did feel nice to have closure, but since this would have been one of the best shows ever made (most expensive as well, the reason they cancelled it), and it's now downgraded to an amazing show with half an ending, I can't really recommend it anymore. Too bad, Netflix would have had a powerhouse with this, now they just have a reason to point at Executives and tell them they are idiots. Firefly 2.0.
The series is very preachy and overloaded with useless explicit scenes that doesn't drive forward the plot or character development for "shock value".
