Great! You've solved the problem: I copy-pasted my code for PUBLIC to SYSTEM, thinking they were mostly the same (besides one branch-point involving PUBLIC->SYSTEM) and didn't notice this subtle difference. Those fails have gone away... I assume there aren't any other subtle differences, thanks!
