Comment #2 by excors: I think this fails because the soup.py Element.parent link gets broken and out of sync with Element.element.parent, and I think that's possibly because Element.reparentChildren creates new child Elements to wrap the old child Element.elements even though some external code (in the adoption agency) can be holding onto references to the old outdated broken child Elements.
