Take Two Gets Wide - IGN

Take Two Interactive, the parent company of DMA Design and Rockstar Games, has acquired Israel's Pixel Broadband Studios and plans to include that firm and its proprietary technology in Take Two's future online gaming plans. With this move, Take Two has positioned itself to be ready for the expected explosion of cutting edge, high speed, online multiplayer gaming.

Future gaming consoles, including the mysterious next generation console from Nintendo, should include technology that will allow for online gaming, an area currently dominated by high performance PCs. It's believed that online console gaming will come into it's own once gamers can take advantage of increased internet bandwith.

Nintendo has not announced any online capabilities for Dolphin, although there are strong suggestions that the company is setting up an online network to support the next console.

The final structuring of companies within Take Two may or may not change with the acquisition of Pixel Broadband Studios. What is known is that the new subsidiary within Take Two Interactive will be known simply as Broadband Studios. This company's relation to other Take Two companies, such who will provide games to whom, has yet to be determined.

Expect Take Two's biggest franchises, like Grand Theft Auto to make the jump to high speed internet gaming.

IGN64 will have more on Take Two's Broadband Studios but only if Dolphin proves to have internet gaming capabilities.
