Valentin "poizon" Vasilev has officially joined fnatic, the London-based organization has announced. The 23-year-old had been standing in for the team since early March, participating in the open qualifiers for the PGL Major in Antwerp as well as playing in the group stages of ESL Pro League Season 15.
Meanwhile, Peppe "Peppzor" Borak will continue to play with the squad "for the next few months' events," the organization revealed.
The Bulgarian's signing will be the first step in stabilizing the squad after a period of uncertainty for fnatic, with the team seeing the sudden departure of Owen "smooya" Butterfield and the transfer of Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin to Ninjas in Pyjamas. The situation forced the European squad to use different stand-ins and academy players over the last month.
poizon has officially joined fnatic
poizon initially put his name on the map with the Bulgarian team Windigo, before being picked up by Complexity for their 'Juggernaut' lineup. In October 2021, the Dallas-based organization and poizon parted ways following their inability to qualify for the PGL Major in Stockholm, and he remained a free agent up to this point.
The 23-year-old has shown some great form during his time with fnatic, recording a 1.12 rating across his short stint with the squad. Most important, however, has been his ability to single-handedly take over a game, as shown against G2 in fnatic's third EPL match.
Together with the Bulgarian AWPer, the boys in black-and-orange have managed to qualify for one of the European Regional Major Ranking events, pulling through the fourth set of open qualifiers. Additionally, fnatic and poizon managed to advance to the playoffs of EPL Season 15, an unexpected result given their poor start against Ninjas in Pyjamas and a dire stand-in situation which saw them start the event with Peppzor and Matias "Banjo" Kivistö.
