How to Install SQL Workbench For MySQL on Windows?

Follow the below steps to install  MySQL Workbench on your Windows machine

Step 1: Open your preferred web browser and navigate to the official MySQL website official MySQL Website. 

Step 2: Scroll down and click on MySQL Community (GPL) Downloads.

Step 3: Under the “MySQL Community Server” section, click MySQL Workbench. On the MySQL Workbench download page, click Download for Windows.

Step 4: Once the MySQL Workbench download page is open, you’ll see the option to download MySQL Installer for Windows.

Step 5: Click on the first Download Link.

Step 6: On the next page, click No thanks, just start my download to begin downloading the installer.

• After the download is complete, locate the MySQL Installer file (usually in your Downloads folder).
• Double-click the installer file to start the installation process.

Step 7: The MySQL Installer window will open. Click on Custom to select individual components.

Step 8: In the Select Products and Features section, locate MySQL Workbench and then expand MySQL Server 8.0.

Step 9: Then double click on the latest version & click on the drag button.

Step 10: Then expand Applications & Then expand MySQL Workbench 8.0

Step 11: Then double click on the latest version & click on the drag button.

Step 12: Then expand MySQL Shell & then expand MySQL Shell 8.0

Step 13: Then double click on the latest version & click on the drag button.

Step 14: Click on Next.

Step 15: After selecting all components, click Execute to begin the installation.

Step 18: Once the installation is complete, click Next.

Step 22: In the configuration step, you will be prompted to configure the MySQL server. Set up a root password for your MySQL installation. Make sure to choose a strong password and remember it

Step 23: Click on Next.

Step 24: Click on Execute.

Step 25: Click Finish to complete the MySQL Workbench installation.

Step 26: Click on Next.

Step 27: Click on Finish. 

Step 28: After the installation is complete, MySQL Workbench will automatically launch. If it doesn’t open automatically, you can find it in the Start Menu by searching for “MySQL Workbench.”

1. Start MySQL Workbench by searching for it in the Windows Start Menu.

2. Connect to MySQL Server: On the MySQL Workbench home screen, click the + sign next to MySQL Connections to create a new connection.

• Fill in the required details (hostname, username, password, etc.) for your MySQL server.
• Click Test Connection to make sure everything is set up correctly. If successful, click OK to save the connection.

3. Manage Databases: Once connected, you can begin managing your databases. You can run SQL queries, view schema designs, and perform administrative tasks directly from MySQL Workbench.

• Can’t connect to MySQL Server: Ensure that MySQL Server is running and that you have the correct credentials. You can verify if MySQL Server is running by opening the Command Prompt and typing mysql -u root -p to log in to the server.
• Missing components: If MySQL Workbench fails to install any required components, you can manually download and install those components via the MySQL Installer.
