The blue slide playground inside Frick Park inspired the Pittsburgh native when crafting his acclaimed 2011 debut album titled Blue Slide Park. “We would like to bring the city together in full force for this legendary icon,” reads the event’s description. “Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened. We are welcoming all artists to come and paint, create, draw, live tribute art for this event.”
Many artists have paid tribute Mac Miller during recent performances, including Drake, J. Cole, G-Eazy, Childish Gambino and more. “I just wanna say: I love you, Mac, and I just want to tell you that I love you and this song is for him because I feel like sometimes he wanted to let go,” Gambino told his crowd on Saturday night.
