Reddit is introducing a way for community moderators to allow Redditors to comment on older posts.

The platform explained in a blog post that posts that are more than six months old are archived, meaning that users cannot interact with them by commenting or voting, but it ran a pilot program with “a variety of interested communities” over the summer to gauge whether or not there was interest in commenting or voting on those older posts.

Reddit found that archived posts received 147,000 more upvotes and 236,000 more comments, while the burden on moderators was only a 0.03% uptick in actions required on their end, so it added a toggle in Mod Tolls that enables moderators to toggle off Archive Posts, which will take effect Oct.
