Back to Brillstein-Grey after celebrated name switch
Turns out the new name for Brad Grey’s empire was a little too, well, basic.
Grey has quietly revived the Brillstein-Grey Entertainment moniker, just eight months after he renamed the company “Basic Entertainment” with great fanfare (including front-page ads in the Hollywood trades).
The exec admitted to Daily Variety that he made a mistake last November by changing the familiar company name. Last month he decided to tear down the Basic logo, throw away the new stationery and bring back Brillstein-Grey.
Name’s a pain
“The name ‘Basic’ gave me a stomach ache every time I walked in,” Grey said. “I realized it was that horrible name. I tried to correct that mistake.”
Brillstein-Grey is the umbrella company that operates all of Grey’s various entertainment ventures, including Brad Grey Television.
