Summary
We will improve the underlying Scriptable Render Pipeline(SRP) API to enable you to achieve the same use cases you had access to in the Built-in Render Pipeline.
If you have specific requests regarding SRP API, please provide feedback and your use cases on this item.
Intended Outcome/Use Case
SRP introduces a more modern architecture for rendering in Unity. The new architecture intends to provide the same functionality and use cases you had access to Built-in Renderer.
We are working to close the gap in API and the foundational functionality of SRP to enable you to achieve the same results as the Built-in Renderer. While the API improvements intend to bring use case and functionality parity with Built-in, the actual SRP API will not always provide a one-to-one match with API in Built-in Renderer. Each missing API or functionality will be implemented to adhere to SRP architecture and design to avoid reintroducing performance bottlenecks and workflow shortcomings in our Built-in pipeline.
To provide some examples, Camera.Render will be replaced with a new RenderRequest API. Override Shaders concept will be added to ScriptableRenderContext.DrawRenderers to achieve the same functionality provided through Camera.SetReplacementShader in Built-in Renderer.
