Astronomical observations on the 28 comets sighted in 1973, including 9 new comets and the widely publicized Kohoutek comet, 1973f, are related. Data on magnitude, distance, and nucleus, coma and tail morphology are given. A table of elements of cometary orbits given in order of the comets' perihelion passage time, dating from 1737 through 1973, is included.
