Textify (Web Video) - TV Tropes
Textify is the name of a YouTube channel first created in March 19, 2024, with its first video appearing a day later.
The channel specializes in long-form horror stories told through various text chats, hence the name.
Textify provides examples of:
- Adaptational Timespan Change: The events of "Five Nights at Freddy's" take place over the span of four years as opposed to several decades in the source material.
- Artistic License – History: "Bluey the Unbroken" contains two specific instances:
- The creators of Teletubbies, SpongeBob SquarePants, Thomas & Friends, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bluey as Walter Markson, Robert Martinez, Anne Fowler, Leo Birling, and Alexis Chrysler, respectively. In real life, Teletubbies was created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport, SpongeBob SquarePants by Stephen Hillenburg, Thomas & Friends by Britt Allcroft (with Wilbert Awdry creating the original books the show was based on), Sonic the Hedgehog by Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima, and Bluey by Joe Brumm.
- All five properties were mentioned to have been developed in the United States. Out of all five shows, only SpongeBob SquarePants is an American IP. Teletubbies and Thomas & Friends were created in the United Kingdom, Sonic the Hedgehog was created in Japan, and Bluey was created in Australia.
- Bittersweet Ending: A lot of their videos end this way. Most of the time, it takes the form of the main villain being dead or dealt with enough so that they cannot interfere with the protagonist(s) anymore, but there is still lasting trauma and collateral damage for everyone involved.
- Digital Horror: Each video tells a horror story in the form of group text chats and direct messages.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Some of the earliest videos on the channel consisted of original stories, with the occasional adaptation of popular horror stories thrown in. However, after the success of their 100,000 subscriber milestone video, "Five Nights at Freddy's", the channel shifted focus to purely adaptations of other popular horror franchises and videos.
- Gender Flip: In "Bluey the Unbroken", Chilli was explicitly referred to with he/him pronouns, despite Chilli canonically being a girl in her home series.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: In some of their videos from late 2024 to early 2025, the word "fuck" is replaced with "flip", and "hell" replaced with "heck".
- Only Known By His Nickname: In "Five Nights at Freddy's", William Afton isn't referred to by that name. Instead, he's known only under the aliases "The Employer" or simply "Pizza Boss".
- Setting Update:
- Sudden Downer Ending: "We Released Sonic.exe" ends with this. At first, we're led to believe that the fire killed the demonic entity inside of the game, and Charles and Megan are going to recover. Until both receive a message from the demon, all but confirming it's Not Quite Dead.
- This Is a Work of Fiction: The channel description has a disclaimer saying that all the stories contained within are completely fictional.
The texting stories presented on our channel are entirely fictional and created solely for entertainment purposes. Any resemblance to actual events, places, or persons is purely coincidental. The content is meant to amuse and engage viewers, and should not be taken as real or factual.
