Crash-Into Hello - TV Tropes

A variety of Meet Cute: A bad first impression wherein a character in a hurry or simply not paying attention runs into another character as their first meeting, often done while Late for School.

Sometimes the inattentive/hurrying character apologizes for doing so, but the other character shrugs it off with some snarky comment. After all, it could be worse. Far worse. With the latter situations, this usually starts a small animosity but is a nice guarantee to the audience that they'll get together by the end of the show.

If there is no animosity involved, this kind of situation is perfect for a Love at First Sight scenario.

If both parties are sufficiently inattentive, they wind up piled one on top of the other on the ground in a position easily mistaken for extreme passion. After a beat, the two will wind up in an awkwardly proper position, facing away from one another and blushing furiously. One party could also be mistaken for a pervert. This is a favored pickup tactic of Cute Clumsy Girls. Or it might give a more sweet atmosphere.

A sweeter method is for one character to drop a pile of things, and the characters's eyes to meet as the other one gives them a hand picking things up.

    Anime & Manga 

• The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You: This is how Rentarou meets Hakari and Karane. It also serves as the Establishing Series Moment, showing that this is not going to be your typical Harem Genre anime.
• Ai Kora: Not long after Maeda arrives in Tokyo, Sakurako crashes into him on a bicycle.
• Basilisk: Oboro not only trips on her future fiancé Gennosuke, but she dumps the contents of a tea tray she was bringing for him and the elders. Ouch.
• Big Windup!:
  • Ren crashes into the only female character his age. He feels the tension like crazy and they introduce each other... and go off and do other things. They're too young. Not a Meet Cute.
  • A little later he meets Haruna this way and it's only used to be sort of confrontational, without a hint of romance to it. Unless you ask the Yaoi Fangirls.
• In Bleach, Toushiro Hitsugaya meets his future lieutenant Rangiku this way though a small problem also makes it a Funbag Airbag her... generous assets almost snap the poor boy's neck! Then he began to cry and nosebleed at the same time.
• Blue Reflection Ray:
  • Ruka and Momo first meet when Momo accidentally runs into Ruka while rushing elsewhere. Momo quickly runs off, but she dropped a Blue Reflector ring that Ruka ends up taking.
  • That same night, Hiori and Ruka first meet when Hiori climbs into their room through the window and ends up falling onto Ruka after they're surprised to see each other.
• Cardcaptor Sakura:
  • Sakura's parents sorta met this way... when a teenage Nadeshiko fell out of a tree and landed on her handsome student teacher Fujitaka, whom she'd marry at age 16. ^note It's not clear whether this marriage was before or after her high school graduation, but it is known that Nadeshiko did continue her schooling afterwards; one of the things Nadeshiko's cousin Sonomi resents about Fujitaka is how Nadeshiko and Fujitaka would go to school together shortly after they were married. Fujitaka is a widowed university professor by the time of the series.
  • Also, though it isn't their first meeting, Sakura and Syaoran meet up again in the second movie when Sakura crashes into Syaoran.
  • Rollerblading almost right into her is how Sakura first meets her new teacher Kaho Mizuki. Sakura was going way too fast after averting a crash on some people unloading furniture, and Kaho grabs her by the arm which allows her to recover control.
• In Case Closed, Inspector Shiratori meets Nami Kasakura when she bumps into him in a darkened theater and makes him drop and spill his drink. It was intentional; she aimed to get him to spill said drink so she'd give him another laced with sleeping pills...
• In The Cherry Project, Chieri crashes into her idol and professional skater Tsuzuki at the rink. Naturally, they fall in love after some trouble, although she had a huge crush on him in the first place.
• In Code Geass, this is how Euphie met Suzaku Kururugi, where she jumps from a window several stories above the ground and lands in Suzaku's arms.
• The Dangers in My Heart: Yamada sometimes bumps into Ichikawa by uh... "accident" to greet him. Provided she doesn't just pop out of nowhere to surprise him.
• The hentai manga Dimples Down Below had a chapter focused on invoking, mocking, and parodying this trope. The female protagonist was trying to invoke this trope constantly to meet her destined lover by going the Late for School route and rushing out into a street — a list of tallies she kept showed that meeting a car was her main success. The trope ends up parodied at the end when the protagonist (having slept with her childhood friend since) genuinely oversleeps and rushes off to school, ending on the indication that she did crash into a cute guy this time.
• Doraemon: This is how Nobisuke Nobi and Tamako Kataoka met. The two bumped into each other while heading to college, and Tamako accidentally dropped her wallet in the process. Nobisuke picked it up and returned it, then one thing led to another.
• Dragon Ball: In the first chapter, Bulma meets Goku after almost hitting him with her car when he blocks the road with a giant fish he just caught.
• Eiken. It's how Densuke and Chiharu met in the first chapter of the manga, and it got adapted as the first few minutes of the first OVA episode (which, for the most part, loosely adapted a storyline from the third volume of the manga).
• Emma: A Victorian Romance leads Emma and William meet when Emma opens a door right when William is about to knock. It leaves quite a mark.
• Eureka SeveN takes it to another level, when Eureka crashes a giant robot into Renton's house. She then holds a funeral for his room, and asks for a flamethrower. It's the start of a beautiful love story.
• Eyeshield 21: Sena meets Suzuna when she comes down a handrail on her rollerblades, and she ends up falling on top of him.
• In FLCL, Haruko literally crashes into Naota. With a Vespa scooter. Thinking she killed him, she gives him a real Kiss of Life, just to hit him again when he revives with a bass guitar wielded much like a baseball bat. It's that kind of show.
• In the third Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood OVA, this was how Izumi met her future husband Sig Curtis, while carrying a bear she slain on Mt. Briggs! Needless to say, both of them became enamoured with each other almost immediately.
• In Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun's anime adaptation, Mayu falls down a helicopter ramp and lands on Shungo's face ass-first. This may be a warning to the viewer that "yes, it's going to be that kind of show."
• In Hanayamata, Yaya's first encounter with Hana involves Hana landing on her while Hana was jumping to evade a shocked policeman.
• Heaven's Lost Property: Tomoki invokes this. When he uses a magical device to transform himself into a girl, Tomoko decides to have as much fun as she can by invoking all manner of cliché anime tropes that involve physical contact with other people. Before making her first appearance and introduction at school as the new girl, the first thing she does is set up a situation where she crashes into a male student, then gauges his reaction and storms off while calling him a pervert for seeing her panties. That was only the start of her mischief.
• Imadoki! has Tanpopo use her bicycle to leap over the closed schoolgate and she ends up crashing into Kouki Kugyou.
• In The Moonlit Dusk: Yoi and Ichimura first meet when he falls on top of her after jumping out of a classroom window. After apologizing, he grabs Yoi's face, comments on how beautiful she is, and then proceeds to mistake her for a guy. She promptly stands up and cooly rebuffs him.
• Kanon:
  • This is pretty much the only way Ayu had to say hello to Yuuichi. May be a bit of a subversion, as there's plenty of reason to think that Ayu is doing this on purpose. It's rather continuous and seems destined to happen. An attempt to "dodge in the direction of your chopsticks hand" to avoid collision is foiled when it turns out Ayu is left handed.
  • Kanon also had Yuuichi and Nayuki meet Mai and Sayuri with a collision on the school stairwell.
• In Karin, the title character meets the male lead for the first time when he's introduced as a transfer student. She has such a strong reaction to him, though, that she can't be in his presence. The next day she decides to test whether it's actually a reaction to him... and promptly crashes right into him before she's prepared herself for it.
• Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl - the entire series starts when a spaceship, who also has a humanoid form named Jan-Puu, crashes into and kills the main character, setting the entire series into motion and also starting Jan-Puu's crush on the main character because she interprets the crash as her first kiss.
• Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple actually begins with a variation of this trope: while running down the street because he's Late for School, Kenichi accidentally touches Miu from the back, and she promptly knocks him down (a reflex conditioned into her through years of martial arts training). She apologizes, he runs away, she notices that he forgot a "how-to" book on making friendships (in the anime version it was a karate tutoring video), and the rest is history.
• The manga adaptation of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days sees this briefly occur when Pluto the dog crashes into Xion during a mission.
• Linebarrels of Iron has Emi crash her giant robot into Kouichi's skull, crushing him into a bloody puddle and killing him instantly. So of course, they have to fall in love.
• Love Hina: Mutsumi Otohime is introduced when Keitaro bumps into her. Except Keitaro thinks she's dead, because of her fainting spells.
• An anime called Love Love? used this trope repeatedly. The clumsy main male lead, one Ooizumi Naoto, met nearly all of the female cast in this manner. (He even got into an accidental breast grope on one of them, who instantly fell in love with him because of this.)
• In Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, done when Caro tumbled down the train station escalator and Erio used Sonic Move to save her. They crashed into the top of the upper floor — with Erio's hands on Caro's chest, accidentally and innocently (they're about ten years old), though both were embarrassed and went to an immediate seiza position afterward. It should be noted they did not dwell on it, a rarity in these instances.
• Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi: During the "Dating Sim"/"Shōjo" episode, Sasshi and Amiryun have an intentionally cliched collision meeting.
• In the first episode of the Mahou Shoujo Isuka OVAs, Tsumiki does this four times to three different people in less than ten minutes. She lampshades this on the last one.
• In MÄR, this is done twice by the same characters. When Snow is first released from the ice prison she put herself in, she falls, directly into Ginta, ending up with them sharing their first kiss together. Their reactions are well expected for their age. Later, when Snow is released from her prison, she again crashes into Ginta in the fall, inciting another kiss. You'd think after fighting a war for a few days would put you above being embarrassed by a kiss again, not this time.
• In Monster Musume:
  • Centorea first meets Kimihito this way when she smashes into him. She sees it as a "destined" meeting, he sees it as a "traffic accident". She says that running headlong into an intersection at full speed is "an ancient Japanese spell" to allow one to meet their soul mate, hinting at her secret love for manga and RPGs.
  • Kimihito meets Mero when he plucks her from her runaway wheelchair and ends up smashed between her and a pole.
• Played with in MOON – Subaru Solitude Standing. Subaru is taking a break from dancing when she notices and watches Nico dance. He performs a jump and it seems like he's about to crash into her, but he lands an inch away from her, with their faces almost touching.
• Subverted in My Mental Choices Are... - while Chocolat falls down from the sky, she manages to stop herself just before she hits Kanade.
• Parodied in My Monster Secret, with Yuka's introduction. She's Late for School, with the traditional toast in her mouth, and bumps into the protagonist Asahi, falling in Love at First Sight with him (Crush Filter effect and all). Nothing strange here... except Yuka is a Ninja, and it happens while she's jumping from roof to roof. While Asahi is being carried by the collar 60 feet above the ground by a giant dragon. Yuka's reaction? "Watch where you're flying, geez!"
• Negima! Magister Negi Magi:
  • Emily Sevensheep has an Imagine Spot of the quickest possible instance of the trope: from crash to proposal in less than 5 seconds!
  • Much earlier on in the series, Nodoka first meets Kotaro this way, although they don't really interact much until a lot later.
  • Collet meets Yue by literally crashing into her while on a broom. Granted, Yue had just been teleported there from the teleport gateway, and she didn't remember it anyways due to a magic misfire erasing her memory, but Collet believed the entire incident was her fault because she was focusing too much on her studies, and fussed over it for a while in the chapter explaining it that way.
• Neon Genesis Evangelion:
  • Rei and Shinji first meet in the episode 26 Alternate Universe by running into each other on the sidewalk on the way to school. Rei immediately becomes embarrassed and covers up her skirt after she assumes Shinji is peeping at her, later bringing it up in front of the rest of their classmates when she sees they are both in the same class.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days, which takes said Alternate Universe and makes it into a full-fledged manga series, extends this into a clear form of Meet Cute, with Asuka demanding that Rei apologizes to Shinji. Rei not only apologizes, but has a change of heart and forms a close friendship with Shinji, much to the ire of Asuka.
  • The Second Impression visual novel plays Canon Foreigner Mayumi Yamagishi's Establishing Character Moment like this, with Shinji and Mayumi walking into each other in the library while neither is watching where they're going. Shinji subsequently helps her pick up the books she dropped. The scene also sets up the Birds of a Feather Twice Shy dynamic between the two, what with Mayumi reacting to their hands momentarily touching by yanking hers away and apologizing in the exact same manner Shinji would.
  • In Rebuild of Evangelion Mari actually crashes into Shinji with a freaking parachute. Not to mention that his face winds up between her breasts. She takes it all in stride and doesn't berate Shinji for being the innocent bystander.
• Nurse Angel Ririka SOS: This occurs to Ririka when she is chasing her childhood friend Seiya. She accidentally crashes into the New Transfer Student and falls head over heels for him.
• Nyan Koi!: A slight variation of this happens to Kaede and Junpei. She was trying to rescue a kitty in a tree at school, then slips. Junpei tries to catch her, but she instead falls onto his chest... feet first. Then wakes him up by slapping him silly.
• In Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!'s Trapped in a Dating Sim episode, Mahiro "meets" Nyarko on the first day of school this way, parodying the trope's ubiquitousness in general and the Evangelion example in particular.
• Subverted in Ouran High School Host Club where the club president lands on Haruhi during a visit to her house. The sensible Haruhi shrugs it off as an accident. Her father however has a less than pleasant reaction to it.
• PandoraHearts:
  • The third OVA plays this completely straight between Gilbert and Oz: the former is late for class (especially bad since he is a teacher), crashes into New Transfer Student Oz, whose Bishie Sparkle immediately makes Gilbert go beet red. The implied Teacher/Student Romance rolls from there.
  • In the manga proper, this is also how Charlotte "Lottie" Baskerville first met her master Glen, who was... rather preoccupied at the time and wasn't looking where he was going. At first she got angry, but upon realizing whom she had just crashed into, Charlotte reacted with a Luminescent Blush, wiped the lipstick off his coat, bowed several times in apology and left in a hurry. Glen was left wondering who in the world that was.
• Pokémon the Series: How the story ends for James's Victreebel. He traded it to the Magikarp Salesman for a Weepinbel. That one evolved and turned its eating habits on Jessie, who had Arbok blast it off. The Magikarp Salesman kicked the first one out at the same time, for the same reason. They bumped into each other, fell in love, and lived Happily Ever After, screaming their way through the forest.
• Pop Team Epic features a parody of this trope, specifically the one that happens in Chrono Trigger (mentioned below), with Popuko as Chrono and Pipimi as Marle. The bell from the town square in that game can even be seen in the background.
• Prétear: Subverted in one episode. Himeno trips into Hayate again... Bishie Sparkles swirl around, as Himeno leans closer to his face, stunned by how handsome he is...and Hayate drops her to the ground and gives her a snarky comment.
• Pretty Cure loves to introduce Cures to their mascots this way:
  • When in Futari wa Pretty Cure Nagisa Misumi (aka Natalie Blackstone) wished upon a shooting star in Episode 1, said shooting star (actually Mepple) flew into her room, wildly bounced around, and hit her in the forehead.
  • Smile PreCure!: Miyuki is very Genre Savvy about this. In the first scene of the first episode, she is Late for School and thinks about this trope, then goes full speed into a corner to encounter no one. Disappointed, she then turns around only to get a Mentor Mascot to the face and gets ecstatic about it.... while Candy just gives her funny looks.
  • Once more in KiraKira★Pretty Cure à la Mode in the first episode. Flying away from a fight, Pekorin slammed into Ichika's face while she's trying to bake a cake for her mom.
  • HuGtto! Pretty Cure:
    • In the first episode, Hana meets Hugtan when the latter falls from the sky and crashes into her.
    • A variant: When Hana and Nozomi meet, they bow and clonk their heads together.
  • Subverted in Soaring Sky! PreCure: Sora falls from the sky towards Mashiro, but Princess Elle's magic prevents them from crashing.
• Princess Tutu: Happens in the first episode. Ahiru runs into the ballet classroom thinking she's late for class (she's actually an hour early), where Mytho happens to be practicing. She flails while yelping out an apology, then turns to run out the door—and promptly trips, causing the princely Mytho to run to catch her, hurting his ankle in the process. This also happens later in the second season, in a flashback that shows how Rue and Mytho met. She was running away from the evil crows, and literally runs into the wandering, heartless prince, who saves her from them.
• Ranma ½: In the manga, this is the way Shampoo continually meets up with Ranma: she lands on his head, with her bike. The anime cuts this almost completely; it only happens in one fifth season episode and the first movie.
• Deconstructed in Recovery of an MMO Junkie. Moriko first meets Sakurai when he runs round a blind corner while talking on his cellphone and barrels straight into her. The impact knocks Moriko out cold, and an apologetic Sakurai has to take her to hospital and pay for her treatment.
• Rent-A-Girlfriend: This is how Ruka meets Kazuya for the first time. She's not happy that he got a glimpse of her exposed underwear.
• Rosario + Vampire takes this literally in which Moka first meets Tsukune by hitting him full-on with her bike.
• Rurouni Kenshin: Kenshin Himura meets Kaoru for the first time when she attacks him with a bokken, thinking him to be the legendary Hitokiri Battousai. She turns out to be right, but there's also an impostor running around.
• Sailor Moon:
  • One episode of the original series involved Rei deliberately attempting to arrange this kind of meeting with Mamoru. Her plan goes very, very wrong when, instead of bumping into Mamoru, she trips and falls flat on her face. Mamoru is completely oblivious to her presence until he steps on her head, and even after that he doesn't even begin to think of inviting her somewhere as an apology. Rei drags him on a date anyway.
  • This is how Chibi-Usa is introduced. She literally falls from the sky when Usagi and Mamoru are on a date, lands on Usagi, and ends up accidentally kissing Mamoru.
• In Saint Beast, Gai and Maya crash into each other at the Festival while wearing the exact same home-made cat costume. After taking a moment to gawp over this fact, they break out into laughter and decide to become instant friends because strange minds evidently think alike.
• Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei: Subverted in the last episode of Zoku, as Meru is running away from the pedophile who kidnapped her, she crashes into Majiru. It first looks like they're going to Meet Cute, but then some more weird voices come out of the speaker she was wearing around her neck (long story). She immediately runs away in embarrassment, though Majiru does seem to start to develop a Precocious Crush.
• Seitokai Yakuindomo:
  • Student Council President Shino decides to remove the rule forbidding students from running in the hallways in hopes of invoking this trope, with the motivation that it will raise Japan's birth rate.
  • The ending theme for the anime's first season directly references this trope (and Late for School) only to immediately lampshades it as the singer having watched too much anime.
• Sekirei: In the very beginning, Minato is walking sadly across the street, lamenting that he failed the college entry exam (again) and that he doesn't have a girlfriend. Then Musubi literally comes falling from above and crashes into him.
• Sgt. Frog: In episode 2, Momoka bumps into Fuyuki intentionally in order to get an excuse to talk to him. A flashback chapter in the manga shows this is, in fact, how Fuyuki and Momoka originally met.
• In Shugo Chara!, Amu meets Ikuto when she falls down a hole and lands on him.
• Played with in Snow White with the Red Hair when Shirayuki trips on the hem of her floor length dress while rushing towards Prince Raji Shenazard to tell him something. They've already met for one thing, and even though he prepares to catch her Zen, her boyfriend, gets there first and ends up falling to the floor in an annoyed tangle with her.
• Parodied in the Space Patrol Luluco gag manga. One of Luluco's friends suggests that she invoke this to start a romance with Nova. She does crash into him... along with another classmate, resulting in a Love Triangle.
• Averted in Super Dreadnought Girl 4946, a foreign girl calling herself Isaac Montana tries to consciously pull this on the protagonist Tobita. He swiftly dodges the assault, resulting in the girl bumping her head on a street light. Confused on why he dodged she asks if it isn't normal for boys and girls in Japan to bump into each other while munching on a slice of bread on their way to school, showing him the slice of bread she seems to have been munching on before. Tobita's friend later chews him out for dodging it.
• In Tamako Market, Talking Animal Dera passes out in a field of flowers, gets bundled into a bouquet and shipped to the florist's, where the bouquet he's in is put on display. When he regains consciousness and finds Tamako in his face, he freaks out and flies right into her.
• In Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note, Aya's first impression with Wakatake, Kuroki and Uesugi is a double subversion. Specifically, Wakatake crashing his bike on Aya, with Uesugi and Kuroki stopping by. First, Wakatake calls Aya a "moving mailbox." And then Kuroki greets Aya as if he is picking her up. Followed by Uesugi coldly commenting Kuroki for "hitting on a girl again." Understandably, it ruins Aya's admiration of the local Academic Athletes. It was only latter when she transfers into their Cram School class when their relationship became better, if not ambiguous.
• Tenchi Muyo!: Prompted by a mischievous Sasami, both Ryoko and Ayeka engineer "crash meetings" with Tenchi months after they first met him, thinking it's a necessary part of Earth courtship rituals. A somewhat in-character Lampshade Hanging.
• Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Simon and Nia meet this way in the High School AU manga. Nia trips down a flight of stairs and lands on Simon's face crotch first. Made even more awkward since it's made clear that Nia doesn't wear any underwear.
• Played around with in Toradora!. Ryuuji walks straight into Taiga, but doesn't even see her until he looks straight down.
• Underworld Academy Overload!!: Shion is introduced by crashlanding on her broom into Towa on her first day.
• Wandering Son: Nitori and Maho first encounter Takatsuki when Nitori's new teacher crashes into Maho due to being late for school. The crash ends up making Maho not go to her first day of her new school; she went back home for the day.
• In Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, this is how Ameri meets Iruma. Due to her obsessively "studying" the "forbidden texts" (shoujo manga from the human world) but not being able to read the text, along with already suspecting Iruma of being human, she thinks he's casting a "human spell" to make her fall in love with him.

    Comic Books 

• After Eden: In the Filipino graphic novel, this is how Jon, Celine, and their friends, after escaping the mall brawl completely got acquainted. Greg and Lea banter at each other on who crashed their cars, but they weren't the ones who were driving.
• New Warriors: In an example featuring an actual crash, Rich Rider is rear-ended in traffic by Laura Dunham. Both admit they were daydreaming, which turns the collision into a Meet Cute as they exchange phone numbers and soon strike up a romance.
• Robin (1993): Inverted. Tim Drake and Zoe bump into each other while doing father's day shopping, but they had already gone on dates and their relationship was already on rocky ground. The conversation they have after colliding was one of the final nails in the coffin for their budding relationship.
• Supergirl: Invoked. In Crypt of the Frozen Graves, Linda Danvers needs to meet and pump ex-crook Bruce Ryan for information, so that she waits for him in his hotel's lobby, and when he walks into, Linda "accidentally" bumps into him and falls on her knees. Naturally, Bruce is just eager to help a hot girl get back on her feet and take her for a walk to "apologize".

    Fan Works 

• The Black Prince: Harry and Eggsy meet when they bump into each other on the sidewalk. Eggsy is angry, while Harry immediately asks him to sit for one of his paintings. While Eggsy is uninterested at first, they do eventually get together.
• In Ghosts of Evangelion, Ryuko crashes into a strange boy accidentally while she is skate-boarding. She apologizes, introduces herself... and after talking with him for a bit, she asks him out.
• In the Touhou Project story "Gensokyo Great Sports Day", Patchouli calls upon the combined forces of Eientei, the SDM, and Hakugyokurou to try and intentionally invoke this trope for Sakuya and Youmu through military-esque actions and overcomplicated planning. Needless to say, it doesn't work, and Reisen and Meiling suffer greatly when the blading weilding couple to be finds out.
• Justified in A Posse Ad Esse's first chapter. A strong gust of wind sends its accidental invoker Dolly crashing into a sleeping Kroko. Interestingly, they were aware of each other's existence prior, being in an asylum and all, but it's implied this is the first time they've actually made contact with each other or held a conversation, blustering winds notwithstanding.
• In Chapter 2 of Address Unknown (Remedy), Twilight runs into Derpy on the way out of the library and ends up scattering a whole mailbag in the rain. Played for Drama, as Derpy is already on probation with the Cloudsdale Post Office and Crafty Crate uses the incident to fire her. It all works out, though, as Post Haste wastes no time in offering her a position in Ponyville once he learns that it wasn't her fault and that she was able to dry and deliver the mail with Twilight's help.
• In A New Order Usagi not only meets Mamoru this way, but also Ami (whom she crashes into while running through the halls).
• Naruto in Legacy Of The Rasengan: Naruto first meets Hinata during a faceplant while he was running and tripped.
• Played for Drama in Mean Time to Breakdown: when Emi crashes into Iwanako, she gives the other girl a mild concussion, triggers her tachycardia, and sends her back to the hospital. Needless to say, Iwanako isn't exactly amused, and gets even angrier after Emi mentions during her apology how she'd had a near miss with another student before...
• Castlevania: Nocturne of Ruin: A literal example in chapter 2: Jonathan's group first meet Alucard when they accidentally run him over with their car. Being Alucard, he just walks it off.
• This is how Takara meets Kumiko in Despair's Last Resort. The latter barreled out of her room and landed straight into the former. She claims that she shouted out a warning, but Takara never heard her due to the hotel rooms being insulated.
• In Kitsune no Ken: Fist of the Fox, this is how Naruto first meets Choji and Hinata. He runs into Choji while running away from Ino (who's chasing him for snagging the last pudding from the cafeteria), but unfortunately the crash results in Choji's burger being spilled. A little while later, Naruto rounds a corner and bumps full-tilt into Hinata, spilling her books onto the ground; he apologizes and helps her pick them back up.
• In Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) fanfic build your wings on the way down  Ed meets university students, Gabby and Aviv when he trips on Gabby outside a nightclub on Canal Street.
• In Faking It, at the (unintentional) summoning ritual that was their first meeting, Bill ends up several feet off the ground and is forced to obey the laws of gravity, causing him to fall right on top of Dipper who gets his head slammed onto the floor.
• In The Totally Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker ends up meeting the spies this way, bumping into them while staring at his school schedule. Although it is more downplayed. Clover, fuming over an insult by Mandy, shouts at Peter, but regrets it after deciding he's cute. Peter, who has just begun his superhero career and is still timid, is scared off by Clover.
• In How To Drill Your Way Through Your Problems, Lagann is not amused that the second time he meets Glory Girl, it's in this way... while she's texting and flying. And then she tries to lie and say that she wasn't.
• In My Huntsman Academia, Izuku meets Ruby and Yang after he trips on the way to Initiation. The "Crash" part is when Ruby trips on top of Izuku while he's trying to get off the floor. Yang also steps on his head by accident before helping both of them up.
• The Institute Saga: This is how one of the students of the Xavier Institute meets Kara. Bonus points since he was running from another girl who he had also bumped into the same way.
• In The Flash Sentry Chronicles: Flash and Twilight first meet each other this way as kids. While Twilight, her family, and Cadance are all heading to Donut Joe's for Twilight's birthday she bumps into Flash when they round the corner just after he tried to steal some of the donuts Joe made for Twi's party.
• RWBY: Epic of Remnant:
  • EMIYA Alter meets Ruby Rose when she bumps into him. While he just sees her as an ally, she gets a slight crush on him.
  • When Ruby ditches Jaune Arc during orientation, he bumps into Pyrrha Nikos and they quickly become friends.
• In Nobody Cared Snape's parents met when they ran into each other in a bookstore, knocking his mother and her books onto the floor.
• In This Time, The Clock Never Stops mentions that Marius Black and his wife Ekaterina met by walking into each other.
• Prehistoric Park Reimagined plays with this in regards to Leon and Yolanda. While they'd technically already met over the course of the very first major staff meeting to unfold at the titular park (complete with the former very briefly directing an intrigued glance towards the latter), they don't truly start to interact and get to know each other until after they quite literally collide against each other while on the way to the exact same location over the course of a later chapter.

    Films — Animation 

• In Frozen, Anna meets Hans by bumping into his horse. They quickly become engaged.
• Hotel Transylvania: Jonathan and Mavis meet when he crashes into her on an out-of-control flying witch's broomstick. This is a deliberate echo of how Mavis's parents met, colliding as bats.
• In Jetsons: The Movie, this is how Judy meets Apollo Blue. They both immediately fall in love with each other.
• In Rocket Saves the Day, Rocket and Little Yellow Bird meet by crashing into each other as she arrives in town.
• In The Secret of NIMH, the eternal Jeremy finds his longed-for soulmate when she rams into him at full speed. This happens at the end of the film, rather than at the beginning (as is more traditional for this trope).
• Shrek: Downplayed. Donkey, in running away from the guards, ends up running straight into Shrek as he puts up another "Keep Out" sign. They end up becoming friends (through Donkey's persistence) by the end of the film. Shrek later meets Fiona when he crashes through the roof of her tower after being flung by Dragon's tail.

    Films — Live-Action 

• D.E.B.S.: Lucy Diamond and Amy Bradshaw are running down two parallel passages separated by a wall of boxes. Where the passages meet, they run into each other and fall down. Their subsequent interaction leads them to become attracted to each other. Played a little differently with the dropped items being guns.
• Disney's RocketMan: Fred meets Bud Nesbitt this way when he accidentally slams open a door into the latter carrying papers.
• In Future War, a kickboxing slave on the run from cyborgs and dinosaurs meets a hooker-turned-trainee nun when the latter hits him with her car.
• Hey Cinderella!: Cinderella and Prince Arthur meet when she walks up behind him while he's hoeing the garden. She's so busy talking to Rufus, she doesn't see Arthur and accidentally knocks him down.
• In The Jewel of the Nile, the Plucky Girl meets the title character when she crashes through the roof of his cell. As the holy man was praying for deliverance at the time, the unexpected delivery from the powers above of a woman instead is most unexpected.
• In Lost & Found (1999), Dylan meets Lila after she collides with him while chasing her dog Baxter.
• In Mean Girls Cady meets Ms Norbury by walking backwards into her and spilling coffee all over her, before then helping her accidentally flash her bra to the class, Sexy Soaked Shirt style.
• Mississippi Masala: Mina meets Demetrius when she accidentally crashes the car she's driving into Dexter's van.
• In Modern Times, this is exactly how Charlie Chaplin meets the girl: she has just stolen a loaf of bread, runs at full speed around a corner and crashes straight into him.
• The two leads in The Number 23 first meet when he bumps into her in the street and she drops her cake box.
• This is how the producers of the show have Truman meet his designated love interest and future wife in The Truman Show. Subverted in that Truman actually falls for a random girl sitting nearby who catches his eye forcing the producers to step in and forcibly remove her from the set.
• Undercover Brother. The title character first meets Penelope Snow by accidentally bumping into her and knocking her papers out of her hands. They eventually fall in love and hook up. It's later revealed that Penelope Snow is actually his nemesis White She Devil, so the collision was probably no accident.
• The Wrecking Crew:
  • Freya Carlson makes her debut by running straight at Matt and getting in his personal space, resulting in him accidentally knocking her to the floor when he turns to acknowledge her.
  • Right before that, Lola Medina invokes this as she pretends to trip and bumps into Matt, deliberately bringing them close together in a ploy to seduce him.
• X-Men: Apocalypse: Scott Summers and Jean Grey first meet when the former bumps into the latter, and Jean would've dropped all of her textbooks and notes if it weren't for her telekinesis. To be fair, Scott's eyes were concealed at the time as he still hadn't learned how to safely use his powers yet.

    Literature 

• Adaptation (2013): Amber meets Reese by crashing into her on a skateboard. They start dating shortly afterwards. Subverted in that Amber is actually an alien sent to spy on Reese, so the meeting was deliberate.
• In Barber Black Sheep, Scullery Maid Cora Sweet crashes into protagonist Oliver Winslow while running in the halls during a fancy ball, although the Meet Cute element of this trope is subverted as Cora isn't Oliver's Love Interest — her best friend is.
• Dragonlance: Sturm Brightblade and the elven princess Alhana Starbreeze have absolutely zero interaction beyond running headlong into each other, and Sturm pulling her into a doorway out of the way of a rampaging, crazed mob. This is enough to get the xenophobic elf princess to give Sturm a precious, empathic amulet-thing, and to pine for him for the rest of the series.
• Ginger Pye: The main character's parents met when he decided to run up the down escalator at the mall and crashed into her as she was going down.
• In Griffin's Daughter, Jelena and Ashinji bump this up a notch: Ashinji accidentally tramples Jelena with his horse, while patrolling the forest. Ashinji recognizes her as the literal girl of his dreams and ensures she's taken proper care of.
• Honor Harrington: In "Beauty and the Beast", Allison decides to meet the interesting new student, Lieutenant Alfred Harrington, by engineering such a collision as he walks past a blind corner. And then nearly gets sent tumbling to the ground when she failed to consider how solid and fast-moving Alfred was.
• Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!: Yuuta meets Rikka this way. After talking to Isshiki about Rikka, Yuuta accidentally crashes into her after spacing out while walking back to his seat after getting his math test back. Technically, though, it's not the first time that they've met.
• Remy of The Map to Everywhere is on-edge enough after being forcibly dragged into another world, kidnapped by pirates, rescued by different, weirder pirates and stuck in the animate rigging that she takes a swing at Coll, only to fall on him instead when the ship rocks on a wave, leading to awkward blushing from both of them.
• My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!: Before they get reincarnated as characters of the Fictional Video Game Fortune Lover, Sophia, whose pre-reincarnation was Atsuko Sasaki, first met the girl who we would know as Catarina...from the latter falling from a tree and landing right on top of her. After this, a beautiful friendship is born—one that Atsuko wished for Reincarnation Friendship.
• In the Spaceforce novels, Official Couple Jay and Ashlenn meet when they collide with each other in a courtyard garden in her Big Fancy House.
• Star Wars Legends' Specter of the Past: Mara Jade meets Luke Skywalker in the flesh as he's cold-shirting in a Jedi hibernation trance through a stretch of space. Mara is standing in a hangar bay to catch him, and she speaks the phrase that will snap him out of the trance as she intercepts him, so he wakes up straddling her on all fours. They then converse a bit about his disguise before she says, "So. You want to get off me, or were you just getting comfortable?"
• The Three Musketeers: While he had just seen them in their commander's office, D'Artagnan first speaks to Athos and Porthos after running into them. This being seventeenth century France, they immediately challenge him to duels.
• Warrior Cats:
  • Into the Wild: A young house cat named Rusty decided to visit the forest neighbouring his home, only to get attacked by a Clan cat named Graypaw. However, after they crashed into each other, they stopped fighting and became fast friends.
  • In the Omen of the Stars arc, Ivypool crashes into the villainous Mapleshade (due to Mapleshade's near-invisibility) during their first meeting. Mapleshade attacks her, but Hawkfrost saves her. Mapleshade later becomes an Evil Mentor to Ivypool.
  • Warrior Cats: Dawn of the Clans: Gray Wing is running freely and happily on the moor he recently arrived on, only to crash into Wind and Gorse, the future founders of WindClan, and ruin their hunt. They get off to a bad start, but later they do become pals.
• Isaac Asimov's "What If—": Liwy and Georgette have boarded a streetcar where Norman is sitting. When they get near him, the streetcar swerves, and in one timeline, Liwy falls into his lap, causing them to marry in six months. In the other, she catches herself and he marries Georgette instead.

    Live-Action TV 

• Bridgerton: Season 1's leading romantics, Daphne and Simon, first meet when they unintentionally bump into each other while Daphne is trying to avoid an unwanted suitor, Nigel Berbrooke.
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Four:
  • In "The Freshman", Buffy meets Riley Finn by knocking a pile of psychology textbooks onto his head. He takes it well.
  • In "Hush", Tara meets Willow (they'd seen each other earlier at a Wicca group but not talked). Tara is pounding on doors trying to escape the Gentlemen when she literally runs into Willow, knocking them both over and giving her a Twisted Ankle which slows them in fleeing from the floating horrors.
• Cobra Kai: In "The Good, the Bad, and the Badass", Miguel and Sam get back together after he bumps into her at school while lost in thought over how his former peers in Cobra Kai (Hawk especially) have turned into violent bullies while he was recuperating from being injured in the school brawl at the end of season 2.

  Sam: Oh! Sorry!
  Miguel: Oh, uh, I'm sorry, Sam.
  Sam: No, I'm sorry. I should've been watching where I was going. [laughs]
  Miguel: Me-me too.
  [beat]
  Sam: [smiles] So, uh, congratulations on being back on your feet! Literally!
  Miguel: ...Thanks. [Sam's smile falters as she casts a glance at Hawk and some other Cobra Kais conversing on a nearby bench]
  Sam: Anyway I'll let you get back to your friends.
  Miguel: They're not my friends anymore. [Sam gives him an inquisitive look] Not after what they did to you guys.
  [Sam is unable to suppress the smile that stretches across her face]
  Miguel: Uh, I should probably get to study hall.
  Sam: [smile grows bigger] I'm actually headed that way, too.
  Miguel: [laughs] Okay...

• Art met Linda in Eastern Standard Tribe by hitting her with his car.
• In the first episode of Hallo aus Berlin, the "Rolli und Rita" skit shows Rolli and Rita crashing into each other inside a tall building and introducing themselves to each other.
• Played textbook straight in the first episode of Season 2 (a.k.a. Volume 2) of Heroes, in the scene where Claire is late for her new school and forgets to look both sides before she crosses the street, and thus runs right in front of West's car. From that moment on, West stalks her, they bicker like teenagers, until they end up together as girlfriend and boyfriend in record time... and then, at the end of the aborted shortened season^note as a result of the TV Strikes Claire tells West that it's over.
• Twice with Horatio and Bush in Horatio Hornblower. In "Mutiny," Bush has only climbed aboard when Horatio has to tackle him out of the way of a wayward cargo net, causing Bush to remark on the "interesting welcoming ceremony" and take a bad impression of Horatio's abilities as a lieutenant. Less dramatically, they reunite in "Loyalty" by colliding with each other on the street and getting snappish until recognition kicks in.
• Prior to Inside George Webley, George first met Rosemary in 1956, when he bumped into her on the steps of Leeds Central Public Library and nearly knocked her music case out of her hand.
• This was actually how Jin and Sun from Lost met for the first time, as seen in the season 2 episode "...And Found". Various details make the scene a semi-subversion of this trope, though: 1) It was a flashback scene, as the show starts out with the couple already married. 2) It was the climax of both characters' flashback scenes for this episode. 3) The episode implies that they immediately started dating following their crashy first encounter. 4) The distraction that caused Jin to run into Sun in the first place was another woman wearing an orange skirt (a friend had prophesized him that love would "wear orange").
• Mimpi Metropolitan: Alan and Pipin's first meeting in the first episode happens when Pipin bumps into Alan while searching for her aunt's house, causing Alan to drop and break his phone. Normally Alan would have been angry and demand compensation, fortunately for Pipin he falls in love at first sight instead.
• MythQuest: Cleo runs into her crush David in her school's cafeteria and causes him to drop all his food.
• Lampshade Hanging on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide: Moze hoped that a Meadow Run scenario would make a kiss with her new boyfriend cause the magical spark she's hoping for, but they crash into each other instead.
• Orange Is the New Black: Morello believes in this trope. This is how she met Christopher; she says that means they are destined for each other. They're really not.
• Part of Me: Adriana and Mónica first meet when Adriana is running from one of Carlos thugs and is almost run over by Mónica's car. Mónica offers her a rider and they quickly become friends, despite their different social status.
• Queen for Seven Days: Chae-gyeong and Lee Yeok's first meeting. They both reach for a book, crack their heads together, and collapse in pain.
• A rather twisted version in Smallville. For starters, Lex is driving a car when he crashes into Clark. This not only is the start of their friendship, but increasingly contributes to Lex's obsession with Clark.
• Star Trek:
  • Although her role as a Recurring Character faded out after awhile, overeager ensign Sonya Gomez memorably met Picard this way in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Q-Who?", as she turned a corner much too quickly while holding a cup of hot chocolate...

    Ensign Gomez: Oh, I wasn't looking! It's all over you!
    Picard: [trying very hard to sound calm] Yes, Ensign, it's all over me.

  • Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery opens with Cleveland "Book" Booker flying through a Derelict Graveyard and evading an enemy attack when a wormhole opens in front of him. Out flies Michael Burnham in a time-travel spacesuit (having come forward 930 years from 2258) and the two collide, sending them both into a crash-landing on the nearby planet. After straightening out the mess they both end up in and spending a year together, they become a couple.
• That '70s Show: In "Backstage Pass", Red and Kitty argue about how they first met each other. In Kitty's version, she accidentally walked into him while he and a fellow sailor mooned the guests at the USO ball.
• Ugly Betty combines this with Living Crashpad when Daniel first meets Molly. She falls out of a tree onto him.
• In Zoey 101, Chase and Zoey meet when he waves to her and promptly runs his bike into the school flagpole.

    Music 

• 2D and Murdoc, singer and bassist of the Gorillaz, respectively, met in a horrible twist on this trope. Murdoc was attempting to ram-raid the music store 2D worked at, and ended up running over him. In fact, 2D's... distinctive eyes were caused by this injury, as "a bumper to the face will do that to ya."

    Theatre 

• In the Broadway musical adaptation of 42nd Street Peggy crashes into Julian as she's being thrown out of the opening audition. She's mortified, but Julian (though surprised) seems mostly amused.
• This is exactly how Marius and Cosette meet in Les Misérables. He bumps into her, knocking her basket out of her hand, which they both bend to pick up, and then they look into each other's eyes.
• In Wicked, Prince Fiyero first meets Elphaba when his carriage nearly runs her over. Needless to say, Elphaba is far from impressed.

    Video Games 

• During the prologue of Fate/Extra CCC, this happen to the protagonist, and due to the game's sexual themes, runs through the entire list of related tropes in a few miniutes. Hakuno goes to climb the stairs to class only for a beautiful woman dressed as a Nun to come falling down the stairs and land on top of him/her. Due to the way the woman lands, Hakuno ends up with his/her hands on her rear, much to her amusment, while her breasts land on Hakuno's face. At first she complains about Hakuno being too rough before realizing she's actully suffocating him/her with them. She attempts to get up only to collapse back on top of Hakuno, knocking him/her out. After the woman gets up and Hakuno recovers, aside from his/her exact memories of the incident, she apologizes and walks off. Hakuno then realizes fellow student Leo Harway saw the whole thing and is mortified at being seen in a compromising postion. The woman later appears calling herself Taiga Fujimura, the protagonist's home room teacher. Once the prologue ends her real identity is revealed as Kiara Sessyoin, another Master in the Grail War. Also the game's True Final Boss.
• Final Fantasy:
  • Final Fantasy VIII features a crash to introduce a member of the party to Squall. You might be surprised to remember that it isn't the Love Interest Rinoa who gets introduced this way, but the team Genki Girl Selphie (before her official FMV introduction during the first mission, where she falls down a small hill.
  • In Final Fantasy XIV, the Warrior of Light meets Themis, a younger Elidibus in the unsundered past, by stepping through a portal that sends them plummeting from the sky and into the other person's head. After both recover from the resulting splitting headache, the person the Warrior crashed into mentions that he was told to expect a "falling star", but he wasn't expecting it to be quite so literal.
• Fire Emblem:
  • Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade has Hector and Florina meet this way. She falls on top of him...with a Pegasus. They have potential for an A Support and a paired ending, and the conversation calls back to this.
  • The tie-in comics for Fire Emblem: Awakening reveal that this is how Lissa actually found the Avatar - via tripping on him/her when s/he was passed out in a flower field.
• The Show Within a Show Niki In Love from Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life has Niki crashing into her love interest while Late for School.
• In Ib, Mary is introduced by sprinting forward and slamming into the title character. However, the revelation that Mary is a painting and interpretation that the red paint footsteps leading to the corridor where she is first encountered are hers implies that she deliberately invoked this as a way of gaining sympathy and/or endearing herself to Ib and Garry.
• In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Kirby meets Ribbon when she crash lands on him from outer space.
• Mass Effect: Andromeda: Peebee is introduced tackling Ryder to the ground (to stop them activating security features that would've tried to kill them). Whether that leads into a romance is up to the player, but if they do, tackling Ryder to the ground serves as a book end.
• The inclusion of a Crash-Into Hello in the Dating Sim CROSS†CHANNEL inspired the flash game NANACA†CRASH!!. And thus we find out that the Unsound Effect of "person getting whacked by a bicycle" is zubaaaaaaan. Yes, with seven 'A's.
• This is essentially how Neptune of Neptunia meets people in the beginning of each game. It becomes a running gag in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory with Ultradimension Noire as Noire becomes the landing pad of the trope at least three times.
• In Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, your partner Pokemon crashes into you the second time you meet, having been chased off by angry townsfolk after your first meeting.
• This is how the Prince and Elika meet in Prince of Persia. Including a "Hi!" from the Prince after he becomes her Living Crashpad.
• Uzuki crashes into the main character in Rune Factory Frontier when they first meet.
• In Super Robot Wars J after selecting the male protagonist (default name) Touya Shun in the first mission on his route 3 girls crash the chosen Original Generation Mecha into his school almost killing him which set off his story.
• The object of one of the microgames in WarioWare: Twisted! is to help a girl have invoke this trope with a boy.
• In the opening of Yandere Simulator, Ayano and Taro crash into each other in the hallway and the latter helps the former get up. This is the moment Ayano starts thinking she has finally found her senpai. Then she sees Senpai's Tsundere childhood friend...

    Visual Novels 

• Chop Chop Fruit salad Mystery Jam DokiDoki Dating Sim THingy: Apple meets Tomato by crashing into them in the hallway on their way back from the bathroom. Apple's narration lampshades how cliché the trope is, imagining a scenario where Tomato borrows Apple's handkerchief after the crash and they fall in love.
• In Katawa Shoujo, Hisao's first meeting with Emi happens when she crashes into him in the hall, resulting in him getting a heart flutter, as any impacts to the chest put him at risk.
• In Kissed by the Baddest Bidder, the protagonist's first encounter with Eisuke in the prologue occurs when she's accidentally shoved into him as he's on his way across the hotel lobby.
• Magical Warrior Diamond Heart: This is how Valerie meets Zacharie and Chandra, crashing into both of them in the hall at school on two separate occasions. The first time, she’s the one who falls; the second time it’s Chandra who is knocked over.
• In Majikoi! Love Me Seriously! Yamato literally bumps into Mayucchi at the start of the game, and already takes advantage of it by snapping shots of her thighs while she's down.
• The very first time the protagonist meets Akari and Enju in Moe! Ninja Girls involves Akari's bike going out of control, and Enju and the player trying (and failing) to stop it. This gets a Call-Back in the "Ninja Cougars" side-story, in which the protagonist, Akari's mother, and the head of the student council that Enju's a member of are all involved in a similar bike incident.
• In the prologue of Serendipity Next Door, the protagonist is rushing to work on her bicycle when she accidentally collides with Masaomi, getting her breakfast all over his shirt in the process. Only later that day does she discover that the guy she plowed into was not only her neighbor, but actually a famous musician.
• In True Love Junai Monogatari, the Player Character meets potential girlfriend Mayumi Kamijou like this. And gets a VERY good view of her white panties.
• Tokimeki Memorial: It's common in Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side; the protagonist inevitably meets Kei Hazuki and principal Ikkaku Amanohashi via collision, and can potentially also meet Kazuma Suzuka, Chiharu Aoi, Shiho Arisawa, and Natsumi Fujii this way as well (although those last two are female friends, not love interests).

    Web Animation 

• The Five Gods (2018): The first time that Scarlet and Burn meet again after losing all their powers and memories of being gods is when they accidentally run into each other in the hallway between classes. While Scarlet chews him out, Burn finds himself instantly smitten.
• Being an Affectionate Parody of shoujo anime, this naturally happens in Senpai Club. While Late for School Tsumiki bumps into Hero-senpai. She is uninterested with him at first but he is smitten.
• Wolf Song: The Movie: Kara is instructed to jump a fallen tree. The first two times she fails, but the third she manages to clear the tree… and crash straight into Arrow. The two don’t exactly start on the best terms, but they get closer as the film progresses

    Webcomics 

• In Amya Accel tumbles down some stairs and crashed into Faye early in the story, bringing the main characters together for the first time.

• As it is based on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, as noted in the Western Animation tab, Rainbow Dash also does this to Twilight Sparkle in Friendship is Dragons. The difference here is that it isn't an accident due to inattentiveness, it's Dash's player getting bored and randomly attacking just for the hell of it. Turns out the only target she could find was Twilight, making this more of a Body Slam Hello.

• Invoked Trope in Schlock Mercenary with General Tagon's parents (in a print only story). The met while preventing a terrorist attack and later served in the intelligence service together. Since all of this was classified, when they left the service they faked an accidental meeting in a park to give them an excuse to start publicly dating.
• Vixen: NYC: In the first chapter, Mari walks right into a green-skinned young man (heavily implied to be Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, given how he picks up on her animal theming) on a footbridge. She is too weirded out by him to make introductions, however.

• My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: Future friendship variant in "School Daze, part 1" when Sandbar bumps into Gallus.
• In a reference to FLCL, Asami hits Mako with her moped and then introduces herself to him in The Legend of Korra "The Voice in the Night". Mako is initially angry, then stops being angry when he sees how pretty Asami is. She then asks him out to dinner.
• Miraculous Ladybug: The Origins Episode shows that Ladybug first met Cat Noir after she tested her yo-yo for the first time, which sent her flying through the air...and crashing into Cat Noir, who was walking across his pole in midair. They do eventually develop feelings for one another, but it is complicated.
• Franklin: In Franklin and Friends: Polar Explorer, Franklin meets the penguin Pip after Pip crashes into him while sledding. Right before this, Franklin had been told that he wouldn't be seeing any penguins on his journey because they all live at the South Pole, not the North Pole.
• This is how the title characters of the short cartoon Jinxy Jenkins & Lucky Lou meet; Jenkins is stumbling along after getting his crash-helmet stuck on his head, while Lou is trying to outrun the unwanted attention of some overly-friendly bluebirds.
• We Bare Bears: Discussed in the episode "My Clique"; when Chloe is trying to make friends at college, Panda's suggestion is that she carries a bunch of important papers and crash into someone, because that's how people meet in romantic comedies.
• The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!: Happens in "Mario of the Apes" between Mario/Marzan and a female monkey, who collide whilst swinging from vines. Subverted in that whilst the monkey is immediately smitten, Mario isn't so enthused.
• Jojo: The Violet Mystery: Jojo and Violet bump into each other at their first encounter and eventually display signs of attraction.
