Chris Hemsworth has added another role to his list of upcoming projects. The Australian actor is best known for his portrayal of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including four solo outings, and is one of the few original Avengers still standing after Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Chris Evans' Captain America, and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow have all exited the franchise. While continuing to play Thor in the MCU, Hemsworth has also branched out into a variety of other roles.
During his early days in the MCU, Hemsworth starred in Snow and the Huntsman and reprised his titular role for the sequel, The Huntsman: Winter's War. He went on to appear in more franchise installments, 2016's Ghostbusters and 2019's Men in Black: International. In 2020, Hemsworth starred in Netflix's Extraction, establishing him in another action franchise with a sequel released in 2023 and another on the way. Also, Hemsworth has starred in several standalone action movies, including Ron Howard's Rush and In the Heart of the Sea, Michael Mann's Blackhat, and the war movies Red Dawn and 12 Strong.

Related Every Movie Starring Chris Hemsworth On NetflixChris Hemsworth has a plethora of movies available to stream on Netflix, including a couple of Netflix originals and a popular franchise film.
Now, he has added another role to his list of upcoming projects. According to Deadline, Hemsworth is set to star in Subversion, a submarine action movie at Amazon MGM Studios, directed by Patrick Vollrath (7500) with a script written by Andrew Ferguson. The film follows Hemsworth as "a once-promising Naval commander who is blackmailed by a cartel-like operation into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters, thrusting him into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, outmaneuvering blockades, and navigating perilous threats both in and outside of the submarine."
Our Take On Chris Hemsworth Starring In Subversion It Could Mark A Turning PointWhen it comes to submarine movies, there are a number of touchstones, including Das Boot, The Hunt for Red October, and Crimson Tide. Subversion can learn from them by emphasizing suspense, tight pacing, and strong character conflict. While Chris Hemsworth has had an inconsistent track record with standalone action movies, Subversion could mark a turning point in his career with Patrick Vollrath at the helm, whose first feature was 7500, about a pilot whose plane is hijacked by terrorists. Hopefully, he can bring some of that same thrilling action from above the skies to under the sea.
