Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES 30th annual announced

Early bird passes and camping are available now for the milestone year

SALMON ARM, B.C.—The sun dips behind the picturesque mountains as a drumbeat pulsates through the crowd. Lawn chairs dot the green fields of the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds and patrons dance late into the night. It’s a long weekend filled with friends, music and laughter.

It’s been two years since the Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES community has celebrated together. And, as the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society (SAFMS) turns the corner after performances went virtual, organizers are thrilled to welcome the ROOTSandBLUES community back to Salmon Arm for its landmark 30th-anniversary festival Aug. 19-21, 2022 and the Community Super Crawl is Thursday, August 18, 2022 featuring emerging artists performing throughout the Salmon Arm Downtown.

“We can’t wait to welcome volunteers, musicians, and patrons back to Salmon Arm to celebrate our 30th anniversary,” says Kimm Magill-Hoffmann, board chair. “We’re optimistic that our festival friends and families will be able to gather and make our return to in-person events memorable.”

Our three-day festival passes and camping for this year’s highly anticipated event are on sale.  Purchase tickets before Feb. 28 to take advantage of early-bird pricing and save up to 25 per cent off the regular price.

“Right now, we all need hope—a light at the end of the tunnel,” says David Gonella, executive director. “Sometimes we have to search for the light. In this case, we’re flicking the switch ourselves to showcase our resilience.”

Now in its 30th year, the Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES welcomes world-class performers and local talent to the festival stage that has seen the likes of Buddy Guy, Jeff Healey, Booker T. Jones, and City and Colour.

In 2019, the 27th annual festival welcomed nearly 30,000 people and more than 30 performers. After cancelling the 28th annual festival due to COVID-19, the SAFMS brought ROOTSandBLUES to the digital era with created a free virtual festival featuring pre-recorded performances in 2020 and 2021.

As organizers prepare for the return of an in-person festival, Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES will follow all Provincial Health Officer and Interior Health orders and employ safety and sanitation practices to create a safe environment for all festivalgoers.

As of April 8, BC’s vaccine card will no longer be mandatory to attend indoor and outdoor public settings. However, COVID-19 protocols are subject to change.

The Salmon Arm Folk Music Society adheres to evolving BC Provincial Health Authority and Interior Health Authority guidelines and recommendations.

Those who wish to wear a mask at SAFMS events are welcomed to do so.

We remain committed to the health and safety of our musicians, attendees, volunteers, sponsors and stakeholders.

All policies are subject to change to comply with government health and emergency orders.
