Globally, evangelicals number 660 million and represent 26% of the world’s Christian population, according to estimates from researcher Sebastian Fath.

In addition, the research fellow at the National Center for Scientific Research in France and specialist in the study of evangelicalism says more than 60% of evangelicals live in Asia or Africa.

The individual nations with the most evangelicals are the United States (93 million), China (66 million), Nigeria (58 million), Brazil (47 million), India (28 million), and Kenya (20 million).

The center of Christianity continues to move to the global South.

Asia (215 million)

More evangelicals live in Asia than any other continent, particularly in the two most populous nations—China (66 million) and India (28 million).

Many evangelicals also call Indonesia (16 million), Philippines (13 million), and South Korea (9 million) home.

Africa (185 million)

Other researchers have found Christianity is growing faster in Africa than anywhere else.

Currently, the most African evangelicals reside in Nigeria (58 million), Kenya (20 million), Ethiopia (18 million), Democratic Republic of Congo (15 million), and South Africa (15 million).

South America (123 million)

Almost 2 in 5 South American evangelicals live in Brazil (47 million). Argentina (5 million) and Guatemala (5 million) also have sizable evangelical populations.

North America (107 million)

The United States (93 million) has the most evangelicals of any country, while Mexico (10 million) and Canada (4 million) make up the rest of the continent’s total.

Europe (23 million)

The United Kingdom (5 million), Russia (2 million), Ukraine (2 million), Romania (2 million), and Germany (2 million) have the largest evangelical populations in Europe.

Oceania (7 million)

Evangelicals are also found in Australia (3 million), Papua New Guinea (2 million), and New Zealand (1 million).
