That's not quite true - the tracker turns text like "r64537" into a link to the appropriate changeset on svn.python.org. It would be unfortunate to lose that easy ability to indicate when a bug was fixed (or introduced). This is more something on the roundup side though: recognising the presence of a hg id in a comment and turning it into a link to hg.python.org.
