In the name of time, sanity and usefulness, rewriting the expected
semantics in Python would be a major good idea IMHO.  I can cite many
projects that have reimplemented half of the semantics in Python
(runpy.py, the 'py' lib, PyPy...), but none that completed them.  Having
such a complete implementation available in the first place would be
helpful.
