Just end user experience's two cents here (btw, this line is correct
at English level?)

I found myself a lot of times going to command line to test a
function, just to use timeit.py, because doing that from the
interactive interpreter was more complicated.

Maybe should exist some "quick measure method" like,

>>> import timeit
>>> timeit.no_effort(some_function_defined_before)
