Maybe this would be a use for the proposal a while back where:

'statement' name(args):
   ...

implied

name = 'statement'("name", args, namespace)

then we could have:

namespace foo:
   ...

and 

interface IFoo(IBar):
   ...

and your

instance my_thing(MyClass):
   ...

?
