Does the popen2.popen4() used by the test provide return values of the
execute command?

Using os.system() instead seems to provide enough information:

On Windows:

Python 2.4.2 (#67, Sep 28 2005, 12:41:11) [MSC v.1310 32 bit (Intel)] on
win32
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
 >>> import os
 >>> os.system("python < .")

 >>> os.system("python <NUL:")

On Linux:

Python 2.4.2 (#1, Oct  3 2005, 15:51:22)
[GCC 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-13)] on linux2

 >>> os.system("python < /dev/null")

Can you provide a patch to test_cmd_line.py?
