Before something is accepted into the language its semantics must be specified exactly and clearly. Last time this was proposed, the Stackless semantics were extremely murky, with lots of implementation-specific exceptions. Another requirement is that other Python implementations, like Jython and IronPython (Jim Hugunin's C# port) can also support these semantics.
