Dave, I did it the brute force way and created a python script that downloads all the files using urllib2. From a unix shell you can then trivially do your searches (after doing a massive gunzip and cat them all to one file). I would have liked to find a tool that takes an archive file and shows it in a threaded display. Oh well... Hopefully someone shows a more convenient way to do the search. I can send you the script if you wish, pretty basic though.
