FWIW, as both a developer and user of Python, I'm -1 on this. I've been coding in Python for over 10 years now, and I can't think of a single project or piece of code that would have been significantly easier with this construct. Trade off the very limited usefulness against not bolting everything into the standard python library (or worse yet, builtins) and it's an easy choice. All imho, of course.
