By "anybody", did you mean anybody that you know & trust?  <0.5 wink>.

I can duplicate the process outlined in the bug report and get the same
failure to compile (I've added a note to it).

However, I don't know much more than that!  (If I even use python in cygwin
I typically use the distributed binary).
