Oh, now you tell me.
I've got about a hundred failed experiments that provide
slowdowns ranging from modest to excruciating.  Take
your pick.

My favorite:  Eliminating the test for dummy entry re-use 
ended up hurting every benchmark and completely
destroying a couple of them.
