You are correct:

  /dev/hda  --> Primary IDE connector, first channel
  /dev/hdb  --> Primary IDE connector, second channel
  /dev/hdc  --> Secondary IDE connector, first channel
  /dev/hdd  --> Secondary IDE connector, second channel
