Given that types is not yet deprecated, it makes sense to me that the above statement should remain true. It sounds like you are headed in another direction for testing the typeness of objects that relies on isinstance(). If that's the case, I suggest you deprecate the types module and change its documentation to reflect the new preferred way of doing business. Skip
