Another idea to make Trent even sorrier he asked <wink>: A number of scripts do transformations on "all Python files", for some definition of "all", spelled various ways, and perhaps inconsistently about whether or not they follow symbolic links, and definitely inconsistently about whether they seek to recreate original permission masks, and in whether or how they name backups. "Traverse, maybe modify and replace" is a non-trivial but non-excruciating blob of code that gets reinvented repeatedly, so pointless variations are bound to creep in. 'Twould be nice to factor that out into a common, consistent utility.
