Let me enumerate the reasons while I like the one I do:

1. it clearly describes the action being performed

2. see #1

3. it is a verb, which (to me) seems more preferable than a noun

4. there is /no/ ... number 4

5. indexer() seems too tied to search engines

6. Need I say more? :)
