I forgot to add: when i said "map(None, ...)" was ugly, this
person suggested "munge()", indicating that he'd prefer a
completely obscure name to a name that might risk an alternate
interpretation.  He liked "munge()" and "twine()" best,
considered "tuples()" acceptable, and declared "zip()"
unacceptable but "zipper()" acceptable.
