Fair enough, though I'd be happy to change that as well. :) So perhaps $PYTHONHISTORY should specify the file name, and the filename and size can also be set from the $PYTHONSTARTUP script if desired, and a function call can be made to load the history? I'd prefer to *only* need to add a line or two to my $PYTHONSTARTUP script, and not set yet more environment variables, if at all possible. -Fred -- Fred L.
