CSS Grid, chapter 2.3 says: "Percentages specified for margin-top, padding-top, margin-bottom, and padding-bottom on a grid item resolve against the height of its containing block, rather than the width (as for blocks)." http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css-grid/#grid-area-concept The use of "grid item" there excludes abs.pos. boxes with a grid container as containing block. I think the rule above should also apply to such boxes. So either 2.3 needs to be reformulated to include them, or 10.1 needs to specify that explicitly. Thanks, Mats
