Southern Europeans were chosen because they are the only group of Europeans in whom any of the frequencies of blue-eye associated alleles of the three blue-eye haplotypes falls below 0.50, a requirement for this test to detect selection. The cyan points represent the result of 1,000 simulated populations under the neutral constant population size model and the blue points represent the data at OCA2/HERC2.
