Learn how to configure access to AI models in Copilot.
Your access to GitHub Copilot models depends on:
For information about the AI models available in Copilot, see Supported AI models in GitHub Copilot.
To learn how Copilot Chat serves different AI models, see Hosting of models for GitHub Copilot Chat.
Setup for individual useIf you have a Copilot Free, Copilot Pro, or Copilot Pro+ plan, you may need to enable access to certain models before using them.
You can enable access in two ways:
The first time you use a model with Copilot Chat in your editor or in the immersive view of Copilot Chat, you will be prompted to allow access to the model.
Click Allow to enable the AI model and update the policy in your personal settings on GitHub.
You can enable the model directly in your personal settings on the GitHub website. See Managing GitHub Copilot policies as an individual subscriber.
As an enterprise or organization owner, you can enable or disable access to AI models for everyone who has been assigned a Copilot Enterprise or Copilot Business seat through your enterprise or organization. See Managing policies and features for GitHub Copilot in your organization and Managing policies and features for GitHub Copilot in your enterprise.
