Externalize footer for japanese translation (!1089) · Merge requests · GitLab.org / Technical Writing

Skip to content Externalize footer for japanese translation What does this MR do and why?

We've few menu buttons at the bottom of docs page that are currently now partially translated. Since a few of these footer buttons are hardcoded in the hugo.yaml file, in this MR, we're externalizing them by moving them in to the respective yaml files under i18n folder.

How to set up and validate locally

Numbered steps to set up and validate the change are strongly suggested.

  1. Configure a local GitLab Docs environment.
  2. Check out this branch.
  3. cd to the folder and run make view to locally verify the changes.
  4. Change the language to japanese from the language selector (located at the top right), and scroll down to the bottom to check the footer.

Note: Currently the translations are completed using claude. They will get updated automatically in the next cycle when we send out the contents for docs project for the ja-jp.yaml file.
