Follow the instructions here to download, extract, and copy files to your microSD Card.
Connect the SmartMatrix Shield to power:
- Insert the power cable into the power port on the SmartMatrix Shield.
- Plug the power cable into a wall power outlet (the Shield does not draw power from the Micro USB cable).
The matrix panel will likely not light up or do anything, as the Aurora software did not come pre-installed on your Teensy. Next we'll install the Aurora software. First connect the Teensy to your computer:
- Insert the smaller end of a Micro USB cable into the Micro USB port on the Teensy.
- Insert the larger end of the Micro USB cable into one of your computer's USB ports.
Next download the required software:
- Download the latest release zip file (named "Aurora-X.x", not "Source Code").
- Download the Teensy Loader Application for your computer's operating system.
- Follow the instructions for running and using the Teensy Loader Application on the 'Using The Teensy Loader' page for your computer's operating system.
Finally, install the Aurora software on the Teensy:
- Extract the contents of the Aurora release zip file.
- Click the 'Open HEX File' button on the toolbar or click the File menu, then click 'Open HEX File'.
- Find and open the Aurora.hex file in the location to which you extracted.
- Press the small Reset button on the Teensy.
- Click the Program button on the toolbar or click the Operation menu, then click Program.
- Click the Reboot button on the toolbar or click the Operation menu, then click Reboot.
The Aurora software should now be running on your SmartMatrix Shield.
