From CRAN:
As the CRAN policy says
"Packages which use Internet resources should fail gracefully with an
informative message if the resource is not available or has changed (and
not give a check warning nor error)."
so this should not have happened. The underlying issue (a Let's Encode
certificate has been left to expire and will not be renewed, also
affecting Solaris checks) is known and will eventually be worked around,
but these checks will not be re-run.
So an update with an increased version number complying with the policy
is required, before 2021-11-07 to safely retain your package on CRAN
(and some of you have earlier deadlines for other issues).
