To recreate this bug (in ubuntu 12.04) with standard ipython 12.1
Create the files:
$ touch foo\ \ \ 1.txt
$ touch foo1.txt
Load into ipython
type foo\ and press tab (in order to do tab completion)
The result will not give you foo\ \ \ 1.txt or foo1.txt but some other files.
