We don't pay any attention to our manpages because our 'real' help is ipython --help
, so they tend to be pretty horribly out of date. But plenty of people people will still do man ipython
when getting started, and their simple existence is probably a detriment to learning IPython.
We should do one of:
A. generate manpages from ipcmd --help
output via rst2man or similar.
B. replace our manpages with a simple reference to ipcmd --help
.
Obviously A has some appeal, but B may be more practical and would certainly be easier.
