"Fixing" the Notebook scroll to help in visually comparing outputs · Issue #1506 · ipython/ipython · GitHub

Hi,
I've seen discussions about adding more autoscrolling to the Notebook (http://python.6.n6.nabble.com/IPython-User-autoscrolling-in-html-notebook-td3884152.html) and I understand that scroll control can become a tricky game to play.

Here, I pushing a somehow different issue with scrolling : I would like scrolling to be "fixed" in some cases. I have in mind the usecase of a plot being refreshed after changing a few parameters. The fixed scrolling would help in visually comparing the cell output before and after the change of a parameter for example.

To make the usecase and the issue easier to understand, I've created a mockup example for people to play with : http://xn--ole-9la.net/partage/scroll%20fixing%20issue.ipynb
I've also put some thoughts in this Notebook.

(PS: I'm using IPython 0.12)
