This is a feature request to make it possible to

1. divide a cell into two cells, splitting it at the cursor position
2. merge two cells together

I use this functionality constantly in Mathematica, especially dividing cells. It is particularly useful when copying code from somewhere and pasting it into a cell. It is much faster and much more convenient than dividing the cell manually using copy/paste.
