I really don't think he intended to complain, I think he just wanted to make sure that since you are making such an effort you are also "safe" in a legal sense. Please give people the benefit of doubt, despite the dislike of Visual C people here are interested in working with all kinds of people. It's just that some people suggesting Visual C support patches seemed to be interested only in making their stuff work in a brute force way and not really looking for a clean solution.
