am i rightly assuming that dv.c is buggy because it doesn't call
release_buffer() on dvvideo_close()?

indeo3.c, for example, shares the same frame allocation logic. however
it doesn't claim to be CODEC_CAP_DR1 capable.

any thoughts?
should i expect ffmpeg codecs to be bad behaved and force
release_buffer on frames they leak?
