This example creates a map that uses a traffic layer to show real-time traffic information.

Read the documentation.

TypeScript
function initMap(): void {
  const map = new google.maps.Map(
    document.getElementById("map") as HTMLElement,
    {
      zoom: 13,
      center: { lat: 34.04924594193164, lng: -118.24104309082031 },
    }
  );

  const trafficLayer = new google.maps.TrafficLayer();

  trafficLayer.setMap(map);
}

declare global {
  interface Window {
    initMap: () => void;
  }
}
window.initMap = initMap;
Note: Read the guide on using TypeScript and Google Maps. JavaScript
function initMap() {
  const map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"), {
    zoom: 13,
    center: { lat: 34.04924594193164, lng: -118.24104309082031 },
  });
  const trafficLayer = new google.maps.TrafficLayer();

  trafficLayer.setMap(map);
}

window.initMap = initMap;
Note: The JavaScript is compiled from the TypeScript snippet. CSS
/*
 * Always set the map height explicitly to define the size of the div element
 * that contains the map.
 */
#map {
  height: 100%;
}
